Address it with Jess—
A Clinical Psychologist

I bring a culturally sensitive lens to my clinical practice. As a born-and-raised New Yorker from a family of immigrants from Azerbaijan, I have a personal appreciation for the ways culture, family, language, and identity can shape our sense of self and belonging. I also speak Russian. I welcome the opportunity to explore the cultural and personal experiences that are meaningful to you and strive to approach our work with curiosity, openness, and cultural humility.

I provide psychotherapy services to individuals across the lifespan, collaborating with folks in an individual, group, family, and couples therapy framework. Through a trauma-informed and multicultural lens, I believe that directly attending to the things we may find difficult to address can foster deeper psychological understanding and relief. We can work together to better understand your experiences, navigate patterns, and help you live a more satisfying life. Utilizing psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and relational theory/interventions, I specialize in working with young adults, LGBTQIA+ individuals, immigrants and children of immigrants, creatives, other mental health professionals, and those with relationship and emotional challenges (depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, acute and chronic trauma, etc.).

I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University. I completed my predoctoral internship at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, gaining extensive experience working with children, teenagers, and adults in outpatient community health clinics, inpatient units, and other psychiatric emergency settings. I am now a limited-permit psychologist practicing under the supervision of a New York State-licensed psychologist at Uptown Downtown Psychotherapy.
